Managing Software by Using Group Policy
About This Chapter
Microsoft Windows 2000 includes a new technology called Software
Installation and Maintenance that you use to deploy and manage
software. It uses Group Policy and the new Windows Installer to allow
you to reduce the amount of time spent deploying and managing software.
This chapter covers how to use the Software Installation and
Maintenance technology to deploy and manage software.
Before You Begin
To complete this chapter
- You must have a computer that meets or exceeds the minimum
hardware requirements listed in "Getting Started."
- You must have installed Windows 2000 Server on a computer
meeting the specifications listed in the preceding bullet. The computer
should be installed as a domain controller in a domain and TCP/IP
should be the only installed protocol.
- Your computer should be using a static IP address.
